Service Projects

 

Current Service Projects of Altrusa of Akron, Ohio are:

  •  Helping Hands - The Club provides starter kits for women and children who are moving from Access sheltered housing or AMHA to a more permanent home.
  • Ronald McDonald House - (associated with Akron Children's Hospital) four times yearly.  Altrusa purchases magazine subscriptions for the Harvest Home residence.
  • Princess Night - Gently worn Prom gowns are collected from local donations and offered to area high school girls in need so they may attend their Prom.
  • Project: ARC (All Reading Children) - After school reading and tutoring program. The Club provides donations of supplies; books, snacks and other needed items.
  • Vocational Education Grants - Providing scholarships 3 times per year to qualifying students in area vocational and collegiate programs.
